"We?re not a trucking company, but we do need trucks," says Patrick Quinn, president of Mission Concrete. "Working with PacLease, we spec?d our trucks with a 180-inch wheelbase that allows for a tight turning radius for our drivers to maneuver between stores more efficiently," Quinn says. "Through smart spec?ing, we saved more than 500 pounds in tractor weight. That allows us to boost payload and still avoid overloads at the truck scales. We also spec?d bigger engines ranging from 380 to 430 horsepower, which allows our drivers to climb the inclines and get through the mountain passes easier."
Savvy spec?ing and routine maintenance with PacLease has also enabled Mission to improve its fuel efficiency, now running at 7.5 miles per gallon, compared with 4.5-5 mpg before leasing. "(With PacLease), we don?t have to pay for a mechanic, parts or storage. And we don?t have to worry about emissions issues or which new compliant engines are in the trucks. If a truck goes in for service, they will just give us a new vehicle with the upgraded engine," states Quinn.
"Overall, we are more productive and efficient now because we can control how and when we deploy our units. We?ve reduced our outside carrier costs by 40% by leasing through PacLease. I couldn?t be happier," concludes Quinn.
