CVSA’s International Roadcheck Returns May 12-14 – Be Prepared!

By Tosha Missel, Senior Marketing Specialist

CVSA’s International Roadcheck will take place from May 12 to 14. Are your drivers and vehicles ready for inspection?

This year’s International Roadcheck will focus on cargo securement for vehicles, while the driver inspection emphasis will be on electronic logging device (ELD) tampering, falsification, or manipulation.

Across Canada, Mexico, and the United States, law enforcement officers will inspect commercial motor vehicles and their drivers to ensure compliance with vehicle, cargo, and driver regulations as part of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) 72-hour International Roadcheck inspection, enforcement, and data collection initiative.

Cargo Securement

Improper cargo securement endangers drivers and others by compromising vehicle control and causing loads to fall, creating roadway hazards and potential crashes. In 2025, the International Roadcheck resulted in 18,108 violations for unsecured cargo causing leaks, spills, or falls, and 16,054 violations for unsecured vehicle components or dunnage.

Electric Logging Device (ELD)

During an inspection, the inspector will review the driver’s Record of Duty Status (RODS) as usual, placing special emphasis on detecting false or manipulated entries, particularly focusing on ELD tampering. In 2025, falsification of duty status was the second most common driver violation, with 58,382 citations issued during the International Roadcheck.
